4 hours in the ward

Believe it or not today marks one of the longest hours I've spent in the ortho ward. So yeah today I decided to go into the hospital a little bit earlier due to unforeseen changes. (I planned to exchange the new ATM card in cimb but got told there's no new card left when I reach the bank.)

So I reach hospital around 12pm. And I just wander around the ward hoping to get some case. I have bed side exam with Dr. Sara on Friday so yeah I want to get some cases and be familiar with them before Friday.

Around 1-2 hours later, a Malay lady presented together with her husband in wheelchair. We (ZH and I) got told by the HO( Dr Low) to clerk the patient and present the case to him.

So we just started clerking and yeah I even did the first step wrongly by not asking what is his name!!!

So and so we did some simple examination (pulse from dorsalis pedis and posterior tibial, pitting eedema).. And present the case to the HO. And the HO just type the case into the computer without clerking the patient again. SO.... This is our first job huh? As in first clerking that got used by the hospital.

And after clerking the patient, the PakCik was so thankful and he initiated to shake my hand and you know kiss his own hand after shaking (some Malay practise) and I could feel that our presence warm his heart. By just simply asking questions and doing some really basic general examination mean so much to them. This is the thing that motivates me even more to be a good doctor. I really like this job. So THANKFUL to my parents also, GOD, for putting me into a med school. I am getting clearer about my future now. Atleast I know I will be happy at work next time.

Pick a job you like and you would not feel like working from 8am to 8pm everyday. Pick a person you love and you will be happy from 8pm to 8am Hahaha LOVE YA GUYS LOVE LIFE!
